As of 29 Jul 2026, 9:47 am, the indicative reference rate is approximately ₹14,416 per gram (see price hero and tables above for purity-wise breakdown). Rates can change during the trading day; always confirm with your seller before buying.

Domestic gold prices track international spot gold quoted in US dollars, converted to rupees at the prevailing USD/INR exchange rate, plus import duty and other levies. The India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) publishes benchmark rates in Mumbai that many jewellers reference for the day's trading.
Nelstack does not display the official IBJA feed directly. We aggregate indicative retail reference rates ingested from major jeweller chains and similar market sources. Your local jeweller may quote differently after adding making charges, wastage, GST and store-specific margins.
Gold jewellery in India is commonly sold in 22 karat (91.6% pure gold) and 18 karat (75%) alloys for durability. Investment bars and coins are often 24 karat (99.9% or higher fineness). The price tables above show per-gram rates for each purity based on the day's benchmark.
BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) hallmarking indicates fineness and jeweller compliance. Always check the hallmark and invoice weight before purchase.
Tax treatment (GST, capital gains, TCS where applicable) depends on product type and holding period. Refer to the Income Tax Department and GST Council notifications for current rules.
Over the past decade, rupee gold has trended higher in most calendar years, driven by currency depreciation and global uncertainty, but with sharp corrections when the US dollar strengthens or real interest rates rise. Past performance does not guarantee future prices — use the 10-day history and chart above for recent context only.
Published rates are benchmarks. Retail prices add making charges (often 6–25% on jewellery), wastage, GST and the jeweller's margin. City-specific demand and inventory can also cause small differences between chains.
The live 24 karat per-gram rate is shown at the top of this page and updates when our sources publish new prices. Check the 'Updated' timestamp — rates can change intraday on volatile days.
International spot gold in USD is converted to rupees, adjusted for import duty and domestic market conditions. IBJA benchmark rates in Mumbai are widely referenced by the trade. Nelstack shows aggregated indicative rates from jeweller-chain sources — not the official IBJA published feed.
Jewellery includes making charges you may not recover on resale. Many investors prefer SGBs, gold ETFs or bars for purer price exposure. This page provides price information, not investment advice.
Disclaimer: Rates on Nelstack are indicative reference prices aggregated from published jeweller and market sources. They exclude making charges, GST, TCS and other levies. Contact your jeweller or bullion dealer for exact pricing before any purchase or sale. This is not financial advice.
GST on retail gold jewellery is 3% on the total invoice value (gold plus making charges) as a composite supply, per CBIC sectoral FAQs. A 5% rate applies to B2B job-work services, not as a separate add-on on typical consumer jewellery bills. Investment products may have different treatment.
SGBs are government securities denominated in grams of gold, issued by RBI. They pay interest and offer capital gains tax benefits on redemption if held to maturity, subject to scheme terms. They are not a substitute for physical jewellery.
Global gold trades nearly 24 hours on weekdays. Indian retail rates typically update daily or when IBJA/jeweller chains revise prices. Use the history table for the last 10 published days on Nelstack.
Use 24K for pure gold content comparisons and 22K/18K if you are buying alloyed jewellery. The calculator above lets you estimate cost for different purities and weights.
