What are the main GST rate slabs in India?+
After the September 2025 GST reform, the primary structure centres on 5% and 18%, with a 40% demerit rate for specified luxury/sin goods. A custom rate field remains available for other notified rates. Legacy 12% and 28% slabs may still appear on some goods temporarily during transition — verify current HSN/SAC notifications on cbic.gov.in.
Is GST the same as VAT?+
GST replaced many indirect taxes including VAT, excise and service tax from July 2017. It is a dual GST with central and state components (CGST+SGST intra-state, IGST inter-state).
Does this calculator include IGST, CGST and SGST split?+

Is GST applicable on gold jewellery?+

What is reverse charge mechanism (RCM)?+
